The African Cashew Alliance (ACA) and the implementing partners of the Master Training Program (MTP) have announced the dates for Editions 17 and 18 of the training programs. The ACA has also announced that successful applicants for these Editions will be contacted by 31st January 2024.
The two editions will run from February to July 2024. Session 1 of the Edition 17 will take place from 26th February to 1st March 2024 in Eastern region, Ghana. This will then be followed by session 1 of Edition 18 from 18th to 22nd March 2024 in Eastern region, Ghana.
Sessions 1 of these Editions of the MTP will focus on enhancing participants’ awareness and knowledge of the cashew value chain, the dynamics of the cashew market and the development of training materials as well as cross cutting issues and topics. As part of these sessions, there will be a field trip to a cashew processing factory where participants will get an experience of cashew processing and its impact on community growth and development.
The second sessions which focus mainly on the technical and scientific aspect of the cashew sector will be held in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital of Ghana. Session 2 of Edition 17 will start on 22nd April and end on 26th April 2024. This will be followed by session 2 of Edition 18 from 27th to 31st May 2024.
There will be another filed trip as part of session 2, this time to the Wenchi Agricultural Research Station for practical work and skill development in grafting, top working and many other good agricultural practices.
The third and final sessions will then be held in Cote d’ Ivoire in June and July. Session 3 of Edition 17 will take place from 24th to 28th June 2024 while that of Edition 18 will be held from 22nd to 26th July 2024.
There will be intersession activities in between the various sessions where participants will be expected to work on specific tasks either as individuals or in groups and submit reports.
The Training will also touch on self-development to enable participants to have the right attitude for the sector.
“The dates for the various sessions were decided on in consultation with our partners. Any changes will be communicated. We also wish to inform the public that successful applicants for these Editions of the MTP will be contacted before the end of this month. Information about specific venues for the various sessions will be communicated to successful applicants,” Finance and Organizational Development Manager of the ACA, Reine Dehode, said.

The African Cashew Alliance (ACA) has been working on developing learning solutions for the industry. As such we have developed a number of eLearning and in-class training programs, which are being rolled out. The ACA is the lead partner for the Cashew Master Training Program (MTP) which was introduced in 2014 to enable us to consolidate the learning programs as well as enhance the content with support from the Market-Oriented Value Chains for Jobs & Growth in the ECOWAS Region (MOVE), EU, OACPS, CICC, CCA, Technorserve Prosper Cashew, Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA),and the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) . So far, 16 editions have been held already in which 1,184 experts have been trained between 2014 and 2023.
